Tully House

Kilrea, County Derry

This house is nestled into the contours of a steeply sloping hill, providing panoramic views over Movanagher Forest and the River Bann delta towards the hills on the horizon. The design draws inspiration from agricultural and traditional building structures in the locality. The palette of materials has been restrained: locally sourced basalt stone, charred larch timber cladding and white rendered walls. The charred timber-clad element of the building cantilevers over the entrance porch to provide a welcoming, sheltered entrance. Internally, an exposed oak truss roof and feature brick detailing adds character and warmth to the living areas.

Notably, the project has been showcased in various architectural publications, including a prominent feature on the front page of Self Build magazine.
