Roddy McCorley Heritage Centre
Glen Road, Belfast.
This alteration and extension of an existing social club building provides a new heritage centre for the Roddy McCorley Society and a notable visitor attraction on the Glen Road.
A centralized reception area serves as the focal point, seamlessly integrating various components of the building: a museum and exhibition space showcasing a collection of artifacts and memorabilia, a bustling restaurant, banquet and function rooms, and bar and lounge areas.
The design’s modern extension contrasts with the existing building structure, a 19th century period villa. A dramatic cantilevered structure clad with etched fibre cement commands the entrance approach to the building whilst a rooftop terrace provides commanding views across the city skyline.
McGurk Architects also undertook the design of interior spaces and furniture, including the Corrib Rooms and reception areas, further enhancing the overall ambiance and functionality of the space.
