Lisburn Nursing Home

McGurk Architects successfully obtained planning permission for this 76 bedroom care home, arranged around a central sheltered south facing courtyard on a complex site, 5 metres below road level.

The patinated copper, stone and timber detailing provides an attractive material palette. The sloping site was addressed using a series of gabion retaining walls and banked slopes to allow a flat plateau on which to construct the new home.
