Within the picturesque Mid Ulster countryside are two unique dwellings designed by McGurk Architects, located only 200 meters apart. While both dwellings reflect site conditions, each project caters for the diverse tastes of the client and are distinctly different in style.
One of the homes features a modern design, characterized by clean lines, extensive use of glass, and a striking mix of stone and render. In contrast, the other dwelling embodies a traditional style with architectural elements that align with the local vernacular. The smooth render and traditional proportions ensure it fits comfortably within the rural setting.
Both designs were meticulously crafted to comply with the planning department's ridge height restrictions. This constraint inspired innovative roof designs, resulting in varied roof pitches. The creative approach allowed for the inclusion of a second floor in both homes.
