The McGurk Architects team were delighted to attend The Open 2025 over the weekend, hosted on the spectacular North Coast—just a short journey from our Mid Ulster base.
Our sincere thanks to Cormac Freehill (Bennett Freehill) and his wife Louise for their generous invitation and warm hospitality, which made the experience all the more special. The event offered a fantastic opportunity to reconnect with long-standing colleagues, put a face to many new names, and enjoy the occasion alongside other professionals in the design and construction sectors. Jonathan Park deserves an honorary mention as our excellent tour guide throughout.
A personal highlight was seeing Edelle’s parents in their volunteer roles, having proudly served as marshals throughout the tournament. Spotted at the 8th hole, they were among the many dedicated individuals who helped ensure the smooth running of the event.
While Rory McIlroy may not have taken home the trophy, his presence created a truly memorable atmosphere—underscoring the power of sport to bring people together.
We feel incredibly fortunate to have such a prestigious international event held right here in Northern Ireland, celebrating not only world-class golf but the strength of our local landscape, people and community spirit.
