McGurk Architects is pleased to announce an exciting new chapter in the continued evolution of the practice, following the successful completion of a management buyout in May 2026.
As part of this transition, Fergal Rainey and Michael McCormick have joined Edelle Dodds as Company Directors, marking a natural progression of leadership developed from within the practice.
For our clients, consultants and project partners, it is very much business as usual. The same people, the same collaborative approach and the same commitment to delivering high-quality architecture remain at the heart of everything we do.
Founded by Colm McGurk in 1995, McGurk Architects has built a reputation for thoughtful design, technical expertise and trusted client relationships. Under the new ownership, those values remain unchanged as the practice continues to invest in its people, its expertise and the communities it serves.
Looking to the Future
The practice enters this new chapter from a position of strength, with a diverse portfolio of projects progressing across Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and Great Britain.
Several significant projects are currently on site, including the new Mid Ulster Sports Arena, one of Northern Ireland’s flagship athletics facilities, and the H&A Office Development, both of which are progressing well through construction.
Alongside these, the practice continues to deliver an expanding portfolio of education, community and sports projects. New commissions include two community centre developments in County Fermanagh, together with a growing programme of education projects for the Education Authority, reflecting our long-standing expertise in the public sector.
Our expansion into the Republic of Ireland continues to gather momentum, with live projects now spanning Donegal, Dublin, Wicklow, Cork and Galway. This growth reflects our ambition to broaden our geographical reach while maintaining the personal service and close client relationships that have always defined the practice.

Over the past year, we have welcomed several talented professionals to the McGurk Architects team, including experienced architects Pierre Devlin and Niall Scullion, further strengthening our technical capability and design expertise.
As our workload continues to grow, we expect to expand the team further, with additional recruitment planned in the coming months.

We would like to thank Sinead McGurk for her support of the business over recent years, particularly following Colm’s passing in 2022. We wish her every success in her future endeavours and in the continued growth of her other business interests.
