Ballykinlar, County Down.

The phased redevelopment of Ballykinlar GAC and adjacent MOD lands at the Ballykinler army training campsite is to become the new home for County Down GAA’s centre of Excellence. The scheme is presently in planning.  The development provides state of the art Sports Facilities for Down GAA and the local community. Facilities include a spectator’s stadium, changing facilities, 4 full size GAA playing fields, an indoor Multi Use Games Area (MUGA), fitness suite, multi-purpose spaces, carparking and site works. A museum and interpretative centre in the stadium building will reflect the shared history of Ballykinlar. This will include Down GAA’s rich history and the site’s usage as a training base for WW1 military personnel and thereafter as an internment camp during the Irish Civil War.
