Owenbeg, Dungiven, County Derry.

“Be they under 8s taking part in one of the all-county blitzes, under 14s or under 16s taking part in one of the Club Derry Sevens tournaments or the talented young players of our development and minor squads; young footballers, hurlers and camogs from every club across the county regularly avail of this resource. Owenbeg serves Club and County. It should be viewed an extension of all of our clubs facilities. It is there to help develop young club and schools players from u8’s upwards as much as to develop the county players of the future.“

John Keenan, Derry Chairman (at opening of Owenbeg Derry GAA Centre)

This sports stadium forms part of Derry GAA’s Centre of Excellence being situated on a 48-acre site amongst existing grass playing fields and a synthetic 4G playing area. The internal layout offers functionality to the operation of the whole sports complex while the modern aesthetics of the elevations present a landmark building on the A6 arterial route from Belfast to Derry.  The entire complex focuses on the sporting development of athletes.  Throughout the consultation process, we engaged with the coaches & medical teams as well as the athletes, the clients, and other stakeholders to develop an understanding of their needs.  This allowed us to formulate a responsive, creative solution which would work specifically for all user groups.
